It is no secret that God’s love releases rivers of life into a parched world. Not only does love cover a multitude of sins with waves of mercy and grace; our faith can only work in an environment of love.

If you want to know how to love, you must get closer to God. The closer you get to Him, the greater your capacity to love.

Walking in love is a decision. When I choose to get under this umbrella of love, when I make the decision to love people I don’t want to love, what I’m really saying is, “God, I want Your will in my life; Lord, not my will, but Your will be done.”

One of the keys to walking in love is to resist saying anything unkind about someone else. If we’re going to be in God’s will, we have to guard the words we speak. Being negative or critical of other people will also bring unhappiness into your own life. Your life follows your words. When you get your words turned around, your whole life will turn around.

Did you know that Love is a key to your success in life? Your success in life will be measured by how you treat others. The way you measure out love to others is the way it will be measured back to you.

If we really want to be like Christ, which is what defines us as Christians, then we must love people no matter how unlovable they seem. In other words, we must make a quality decision to walk in love at all times, with all people. We must choose to get under the umbrella of love, and stay under that love cover no matter what goes on around us.

Love Is a Choice. God gave us the formula for how to walk in His love. It’s not rocket science. It’s as simple as this, we are to love the Lord our God with all of our hearts, and we are to love our neighbors as ourselves. Two simple commandments: Love God. Love people.

Love, it’s more than butterflies in our stomach when we have a crush, or hugging a friend that we are happy to see. Love is intentional, it’s a deliberate decision. Godly love is a practice that requires discipline.

Many of us think we already know how to love. We think it’s the rest of the world that needs to learn a thing or two about walking in love. But if we really knew anything at all about how to operate in the power of God’s love, we wouldn’t have the problems we have.
