Heritage Christian Center's Founder

If you had asked Dennis Leonard how Heritage Christian Center came to be, he would have humbly replied, “I was just a building contractor who wanted to do something for the Lord”.

But what began in 1984 as a simple Bible study in the basement of his home soon grew into one of the most dynamic and impactful churches in the nation. With a vision rooted in faith and a heart devoted to service, Pastor Dennis Leonard founded Heritage Christian Center and watched it flourish. Recognized by Church Growth Today as one of “America’s 100 fastest-growing churches,” Heritage became a beacon of hope for countless individuals and families.

In 2025, Heritage Christian Center proudly celebrated 41 years of ministry—four decades of transforming lives and uplifting the community through powerful outreach efforts like The Heritage Food Bank and Prison Ministry.

On November 1, 2018, Pastor Dennis Leonard completed his earthly mission and entered the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Yet, his legacy continues to live on through the many ministries and lives he touched.

Dennis Leonard was more than a pastor, he was a visionary, a motivator, and a man deeply committed to helping people unlock their God-given potential. Regardless of age, background, or circumstance, he believed everyone carried greatness within them and once that potential was realized, he often said, “nothing could hold someone back from achieving anything.”

Known for his dynamic and unforgettable preaching style, Pastor Leonard had a gift for making truth both relatable and inspiring. His sermons were filled with wisdom, clarity, and vivid illustrations that left lasting impressions.

He also authored more than 15 books that continue to encourage and uplift readers today. Titles like "Your Best Days Are Still Ahead", "Forgiveness Matters", "Don't Judge My Future By My Past", "Love Matters", "Happiness Matters" and "Keys To Financial Freedom" reflect the core of his message: faith, hope, resilience, and purpose.

Through every word he spoke and every life he touched, Dennis Leonard built far more than a church, he built a legacy of faith, compassion, and unwavering belief in the power of God to transform lives.
