Today's Scripture | Acts 3:19
19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord...
People really don't want to talk about repentance. Most think about others who need to repent, but we never really have a sit down with God and lay out the things we need to repent for. If you can't say amen, then at least say ouch! I know, tough way to start the day, but stay with me.
Have you ever considered the beauty and power of repentance? More than a drag-your-feet action to be avoided, it is a miraculous gift from God!
Repentance is a rapid response to the sins to which we fall prey. It restores our relationship with our Heavenly Father. Sin separates us from God, but repentance brings us closer to Him.
Proverbs 28:13 tells us that “He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.” The sin that we hide and harbor causes us to live in spiritual poverty. The sin that we confess and renounce gains us spiritual prosperity.
Every human on the planet has something to repent. Don't be ashamed of your need to repent. That is why God sent His Son. He knew that we would need to repent, that we would need forgiveness, that we would need our sins to be washed away.
And when we repent, times of refreshing will come. We will experience His joy in the dark times, His peace when chaos is all around, and His strength to soar above the storms.
If you long for thirst-quenching revival from the presence of the Lord, prioritize repentance. Be quick to seek forgiveness for the sins that separate.
A Prayer for You Today...
May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you and give you His peace. May the goodness of God lead you to repentance so that you are refreshed and renewed. When you seek Him, you will thrive!
