"But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness."
Did you know that Love is a key to your success in life? Your success in life will be measured by how you treat others. The way you measure out love to others is the way it will be measured back to you.
What you sow in the lives of others is what will grow in your own life. Paul tells us to “put on a heart of compassion” (Col. 3:12), just like putting on a coat. Sometimes you don’t want to wear that coat, but if it’s cold outside, you will have to put it on.
Many times you have to slip on a coat of love when you really don’t want to. It is a coat of kindness, compassion, and forgiveness. In other words, you don’t have to feel loving to love. It’s something that you choose to do by faith.
Your mind says, “If you forgive them, they’ll turn right around and do it to you again. Don’t let them treat you like that!” In truth, God is saying, “If you’ll have enough faith to love them anyway, I’ll make it up to you before it’s over.”
Our flesh says, “Get even.” God says, “If you’ll let it go, I’ll make it up to you.” That takes faith, and faith works by love. It takes a profound love of God to let things go for His Name’s sake, and without that love our faith will not succeed. Faith prevails when love prevails.
