8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
1 John 4:8
First John 4:8 tells us that God is love. If you want to know how to love, you must get closer to God. The closer you get to Him, the greater your capacity to love. There is only one way that you can love people who have caused great pain in your life, and that’s if you connect to the Giver of love, the God of love.
If you’re not intimately connected to the Lord, in love with Jesu, you won’t be able to give love. You can’t give what you don’t have. Only He can empower you to love with the kind of love that sets people free.
That’s a primary reason we attend church, to learn how to love, give, and live selflessly. This is what liberates and draws people to God. The closer we draw to the Lord, the more we tap into the Source of love, and the more life we find we have to give.
