Today's Scripture: 1 Peter 4:10-11
10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 11 If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God.If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praisedthrough Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.
God has given each of us certain gifts and talents. He didn’t give them to us just so we could make a bunch of money for ourselves and then die and leave it to our children. His purpose in giving us gifts and talents is so that we can be a blessing to others by giving to them as He has given to us.
You will never fully grasp the meaning of life until you learn to be a giver. Once you gave your life to Christ, your life became His. It’s no longer your own. Life is no longer all about you. As long as you keep the mindset that your life is about you, you will continually miss out on all that God has for you. Your heart will grow hard and you will become blind to His direction.
So how do you really give your life to the Lord? How do you go about laying it down? It’s simple, by loving others and by serving them. Just jump in and let God use you. The answer is simple, but it is not automatic. You have to make up your mind to find a way to serve God’s people. Find a need and fill it. There is never a shortage of needs to be met in the church, or out in the world. Look around your community.
You walk out your love for God by serving and loving people. When you get your focus off of yourself, the world around you will change. Whatever your need is, whatever your issues are, if you will get the focus off of you and begin to serve and love the people around you, somehow everything has a way of
working out. That’s God’s economy.
